Daily Blog # 0065 – Saturday 6th March 2010

Well today’s been an absolute waste of a day. I went out last night with a couple of guys from work to watch Leeds Rhinos play Harlequins and as you can imagine, the beers were in full flow.

I’m not the most hardcore of drinkers, and I’m not the biggest of guys either, yet when we go out to watch the rugby I always think I can drink at the same speed they can, and drink the same amount too. Which I blatantly can’t.

I was good at one point quite early on though (remembering how drunk I ended up last time) I still had half a pint but the other three had already finished theirs and were eager to get another round in before we left for the stadium.

Usually I’d just get another pint and quickly finish the half before the new round of drinks comes over, but yesterday was different. Yesterday – for the first hour anyway – I was strong.

Steve asked if I wanted another, and I said “Steve, thank you very much for your kind offer, but I will have to decline. I already have a lovely nice cool half here, and I will continue to be happy with it, even though it’s not a whole pint”. Steven asked again to which I said “Oh go on then, I’ll have a cheeky half”.

Unfortunately that resolve didn’t continue and I remember walking back to the stands at half-time holding two pints just for me. We did that so we could still drink without having to miss any of the match, but it was so cold on the terrace that I drank my first pint super quick so I could put my hands in my pockets. Silly boy.

Not only that, but I went for a piss towards the end forgetting that rugby matches are only 80 minutes and not 90 like football, and by the time I got back up to stand with Steve and his brother-in-law, the match ended. Oops.

It was a heavy night but I still got in before midnight. But as I hadn’t been out for a while the evening took it’s toll and I woke up this morning feeling awful. Luckily I wasn’t sick really. Gil forced some toast down my throat along with plenty of water before bed so I guess that’s what saved me.

Luckily for me my loving girlfriend was on hand again this morning and made me a lovely hot cup of tea and gave me a couple of Syndol headache tablets. The Syndol, whilst they certainly helped with the headache, totally knocked me out. Syndol are really rather strong and they make you feel woozy at the best of times, let alone when you’re already feeling similarly hazy from a hangover. Having two tablets combined with an 8-pint hangover probably explains the reason I didn’t leave my bed until 4pm. Oh well.

Bit of a shame though because I really wanted to play my 360 today as I feel like I haven’t played it for a while. Not only that but I had the Blur beta to play as well as the new Just Cause 2 demo.

I feel like shit even now, but that may very well be down to too much sleep. Not only that, but I dropped my two chicken burgers that I was making for dinner on the floor as I was a bit out of it. Damn. Not having a very good day at all today.
