Well today has been pretty tough. Still tired from being up late after Wednesday's Big Brother/Big Bother recording, I ignored the doctor's orders (of which there were none) and stayed up late AGAIN.
Last night it was the turn of SPOnG to keep me awake and I was still up editing the SPOnG.com Pre-E3 podcast at 2am this morning, which meant I was utterly shattered when I struggled to wake up at 7am this morning.
I did manage to wake up though, but almost wish I hadn't when I walked up to the mirror in the bathroom and noticed the black rings around my eyes making me look like Gareth from The Office.
I was knackered. I felt knackered, which was pretty normal due to my late nights, but now I was even starting to look knackered, which simply won't do.
It's been a really tough week or two at work as well, so with work being a bit of a stress, coupled with the start of Big Brother and E3 just around the corner, it's been a bit of a busy one whatever way you look at it.
Not only that, but ou

So TV's original reality show is back.
And after 10 long years serving the nation's voyeurs, it's finally coming to an end. Yes, Big Brother is back, and it'll be the last time I say that (until Five buy the license and run with it next summer).
I'm sad to see it go, but now isn't the time for reminiscing, oh no, no now is the time for celebration, now is the time for rejoicing.
Because last night another 13 twats entered the house to cheers, boos, screams and woos, and in a few short weeks we'll all either love them or hate them.
Either way, I'll be watching them.
It's at usually this time where I'll list the new housemates, talking about their likes and dislikes, what they were wearing, and how the crowd reacted to them, but it's different this time. I won't be doing that, I'm sorry. Mostly because you're either a fan, in which case you watched yesterday's live launch show, or you hate Big Brother, in which case the last thing you want is a list of idiots ruining another perfectly

The picture above is of an apple. No ordinary apple you understand. No, of course not, it was my apple. My bloody apple. My bloody apple that I intended to eat just as soon as my lunchtime sandwich/Greggs sausage roll combo had sufficently gone down.
I had cancelled meetings, taken my phone off the hook, and closed the office door. This was our time. This was our moment to enjoy each other, with no interruptions.
OH BUT WAIT WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT.
Yes, because if you look down, deep down, into that very apple you'll notice something. Something dirty. Something horrible. And something that really has no place in stroke outside stroke near an apple.
What was inside my green friend? Why, it was DUST.
I know exactly what you're thinking. Yeah yeah, dust, exactly. And no, I don't know how it got there either. It was a right shock though, I tell you. There I was, with a freshly made cup of tea using a Twining's English Breakfast teabag - oh you know this boy's got class - and I pick up my

Another day, and another day of wedding planning stress.
Ok, so it's really not that stressful at the moment, but I can already feel the pressure building, and even silly things like trying to work out what day of the week we want to get married, what what wedding favors we want on our tables are starting to do our heads in, and we've only just started.
We visited another wedding reception venue today though, so we are making progress at least. Today we visited The Faversham. A club that I spent most of my first few weekends in Leeds at, but also - and perhaps more importantly - it was the venue for mine and Gill's first ever date.
To be honest, neither of us really wanted to go. We felt we had to though, as when people inevitably ask about "how many venues did you have to look at before finding this one?" we would have felt quite silly if we said "Well, this was the only one, actually. But Subway do a fantastic wedding package, so..."
So at lunchtime we made the 15 minute walk through th

It's finally happened. 22 years after I originally broke my specs in Year 7 History, I'm getting glasses again.
My eyes have been bad for ages, so it's been on the cards for a while, and what with getting some rather bad headaches recently, I thought it was about time I gave in to my ever-deteriorating body and order some lovely Specsavers glasses.
I can still see now, obviously, and driving is fine without glasses (even the optician said that today) but for things like watching TV, or reading signs that are far away (but definitely not traffic signs) I was certainly losing some vision clarity.
I tried on Gill's glasses the other day and it was like watching a HD movie, it was amazing. I could see details I hadn't seen before, and I noticed Gill was a brunette. I couldn't believe it. All this time I thought she was just a blurry white and beige shape, but fuck me, she's got eyes, hair and teeth and everything. Definitely needed some glasses after that wake-up call.
So if I could notice th

Another nice summer's day, and another BBQ. Although yesterday wasn't as hot as it had been this week, it was still certainly warm enough for a early evening BBQ on the terrace.
We had a few people round, and James and I had fun with the lighting gel, again. Although I will admit, we didn't use half as much a we usually do.
I think we're actually starting to show a bit of restraint and respect the lighting gel now - we even read the instructions and coated the briquettes with gel and left them for a few minutes just like the bag said.
And what do you know - the BBQ lit like a charm. No "100 matches thrown into the BBQ" this time, nor did I have to start throwing reams of A4 paper in like last time. Yesterday's BBQ went off without a hitch, which was a refreshing change.
Just because the BBQ lit easily doesn't mean the evening was free from incident. Oh no, of course not. Only two hours in the BBQ, Gill started feeling a bit unwell. She's so fragile her immune system is like one of those

I woke up with a headache again this morning. I only had two, like literally two beers last night, so it wasn’t an hangover, instead I think it could have something to do with needing glasses.
The last time I went to the opticians the guy said I was “borderline”. I would certainly benefit from having [...]

I'm a bad man. A very, very, bad man. I'm just incapable of playing something nice just for the fun of it, and I've learned over the past day or so that I'd rather take all the fun (well, most of the fun) out of a situation just so I could win (well, try to win)
It was only an iPad game, but I still did it.
I just couldn't help myself. I've been playing games with friends over the internet, and although they've probably all been using their brains to come up with beautiful and brilliant things, I've just been Googling the answers and racking up the points.
The game in question is Words With Friends HD. My name is Mat Murray, and I'm a cheater on a computer game meant for fun.
Words With Friends is basically Scrabble for the iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad. You can challenge people in your contacts list for a game, search for another player by username, or just play randoms online. The game is turn-based - like Scrabble - which means it's a perfect game for playing a move just before work and check

This afternoon, just after work, myself and Gill went to look at a venue for our wedding reception.
We're thinking about getting hitched this year actually, and with the winter months fast approaching, we felt it was high time to get a venue sorted.
Today we visited The Lounge, a nice little bar/restaurant near Gatecrasher in Leeds (OBVS) and just down the road for Morrison's (so that's the reception sorted then)
I felt a bit nervous actually; this was the first meeting we had arranged with anyone in a professional capacity regarding the wedding.
I guess this mean's it's official! I mean, it was officially official before, but now that we're making actual plans for the big day, it just feels so much more real.
I was a bit nervous, as I said, but it wasn't that bad, that was until I met Gill after work, whose first words were "oh baby I'm so nervous!". Of course, being the big, no emotion, man, I said I wasn't bothered, but then I asked her why she was so nervous.
Apparently it wa
